Clinic specializing in cancer treatment and infectious disease prevention with gene technology

Hirahata Gene Therapy Clinic
An independent research clinic specializing in
gene therapy for the prevention of cancer and infectious disease

MISSION

HIC Clinic is committed to the prevention of some of the most serious diseases commonly found in society. Our clinic houses its own laboratory which supports the provision of state-of-the-art medical care, including cancer therapies and prophylactic measures to prevent infectious disease, based on many years of research undertaken by Dr. Tetsuyuki Hirahata—director of the clinic and a leading expert in the field of genetic research.

Tetsuyuki Hirahata, M.D., Ph.D.

Director of HIC Clinic

Dr. Hirahata graduated from Toho University School of Medicine in 1974 and joined its Faculty of Internal Medicine I: Hematology in 1975. He continued his work as a research fellow in the Faculty of Internal Medicine (Hematology/Oncology) at East Carolina University School of Medicine.

Upon returning to Japan, he established Hirahata Clinic and also founded UDX Hirahata Clinic and its affiliated research institute in Akihabara, Tokyo, in 2008. Both medical facilities were created to provide specialized healthcare services in the fields of genetic testing and treatment, and Dr. Hirahata continues to advance these same lines of research at HIC Clinic and its associated research laboratory.

Our Medical Services

HIC Clinic embraces cutting-edge technologies in genetic and regenerative medicine
to provide the following preventive healthcare services.

Your risk of developing a serious disease such as cancer, or your susceptibility to infection, can be assessed through the analysis of specific genes obtained from a blood sample. By employing the proprietary Hirahata method of genetic testing, we are able to perform as many as 251 assays to deliver a more comprehensive assessment of risk.

Unlike conventional therapies that adopt a “one size fits all” approach to the treatment of cancer, Hirahata Clinic takes a personalized approach—identifying genetic abnormalities in both benign and cancerous tissue samples to develop treatment strategies tailored to individual physical characteristics, symptoms, and needs.
Each infectious disease is caused by a distinct type of pathogen, or more precisely, by specific genes encoded by the pathogen. At HIC Clinic, we independently investigate and develop vaccines that fully exploit these pathogen-encoded genes to effectively prevent numerous infectious diseases and suppress the development of cancer.
